I was just thinking about this Y2K business. I haven't dwelt on it, but I do have a couple of random thoughts on the subject.
This is a classic case of human beings developing something and then being held hostage by it. The atomic bomb is a case in point. In this instance it's the COMPUTER. We have come to rely so completely upon this technological wizardry, that when it Glitches Up (or threatens to) it really can Play Hob with our lives. Admittedly, the Possible Ramifications are staggering (at least we're told): Utilities, food supply, phone, hospitals, finances, schools, etc., all could be chaotic on January 1, 2000. We're encouraged to put in some supplies to see us through.
Other than that, I as an individual have no control over this business. I can worry about it, if I choose to. That won't change anything. Jesus said, "Who can add an inch to his height by worrying about it?" In other words, it's Absurd to worry about something over which you have no control. (Absurdity has seldom stopped us before.)
But what can I do other than take sensible precautions? How about relax and get on with the Life God has given me. Jesus also said, "The Father Knows You Have Needs. Focus on Him and His Kingdom and all will be taken care of'". David said, "My times are in Your hands".
What's faith for if not to be secure in the company of one who has the whole world in his hand and, amazingly enough,… loves me.
How About This???
Computer to little boy: "I will educate you, shop for you, entertain you, communicate for you. I am all you need, your computer."
Little boy to computer: "Please hug me!"
