I was just thinking this morning about Jesse, "the body", Ventura. He's the former professional "rassler' turned Governor of Minnesota.
He generated quite a stir in an article that appeared in Playboy. (I was under the impression that one looked at Playboy, not read it.) Anyway, he was widely quoted in the press. That's where I read it.
The gist of what got people fired up was Jesse said that organized religion (church) was a "Crutch For the Weak Minded". In other words, if you're strong enough between the ears and elsewhere, you have no need for the community of God's people that gathers regularly around His Word.
In A Way He Was Right. Jesus said, "I've come to seek and save the lost". He said, "The well (self righteous) don't need the Doctor. The sick do." The church is like a hospital for people who are sick in the soul, i.e. sinners. If you reckon YOU'RE NOT one of those, then you're not looking for what you don't need.
The unbeliever is not always wrong. The Governor, unwittingly, was right; at least in my case. In the words of the Confession, "I am a poor, miserable sinner". I need all the help I can find .. . but then, the miracle is Jesus Found Me.
