Columbine

I was just thinking about those two students who killed a bunch of people in a Colorado High School. (This is being written the day after Columbine.)

The predictable, universal questions are: Why? Who's to blame? The usual answers are: TV, Movies, Abortions, Guns, Public Schools, Broken Families, El Nino, Society, and the list goes on and on.

If someone asked me (no one has), my answer is, "I don't know why". However, the world is a dangerous place. Bad things happen… all the time. But then this is a disobedient and rebellious world, out of touch and out of tune with God". And I'd also say this: "Those boys temselves decided to do what they did." They may have been influenced by a thousand different things, but the fact remains that they decided to kill people and did.

It's been light years since I was a boy, but in my wildest dreams I couldn't imagine a scenario in which I dressed in black everyday, stockpiled pipe bombs, wore black nail polish, hung racist posters in my room, and my parents would still have allowed me to live.

Times may have changed, but the bible still says, "rear a child in the way that he should go". That implies that there is one, and that parents should know what it is.
