Going Back

When this is being read, I will be (Lord willing) in the interior of Papua New Guinea, in company with son, Nathan, seeing people and places we knew so well thirty years ago.

There is a certain thinking that says, "You can't go back. You can't go home again". In the sense that you can't "go back" and experience places and people as they were before, that's probably true. OTHER PEOPLE change. PLACES change. WE change. What remains FROZEN in MEMORY is NOT SO in REALITY.

That's why DISAPPOINTMENT is usually the stowaway on the trip to "going back". We can be disappointed at HIGH SCHOOL REUNIONS, HOMECOMINGS, etc. PERHAPS IN NEW GUINEA. I'll let you know.

In the meantime, God has something to say about GOING BACK! The Prodigal Son decided to "go back home". He was NOT DISAPPOINTED when he got there. He was OVERWHELMED by the response of his father to his return. He didn't deserve or expect it. That's what our experience is when we, in repentance and faith in Christ, GO HOME AGAIN. GOD NEVER DISAPPOINTS US. It's
