Notice the interesting irony in this passage. While Jesus is going to see a girl (12 years old) who is dying, a woman who considers herself dead because of her disease (of twelve years) is given life. In the process the girl dies, yet Jesus gives them both life. The source of this life is Jesus, but the reason He gives them life is very important to note.
He said to the woman “your faith has made you well” and to the people in the house “do not fear, only believe.” The reason He gave life to each of them was their faith, their belief in Jesus as the one who could heal them. It’s the same for us; the thing that gives us eternal life that we can only find in Jesus is our faith - Our belief that Jesus is the one who saves us from our sins.
Who is this Jesus? He is the One in whom we believe, and that faith in Him gives to us the ultimate spiritual healing!
