As Jesus wraps up His explanation on why some believe and some do not, He continues with two more parables. The first answers the question “How does faith grow?” The answer is simple. God creates the faith, and God grows it through His Word as well. This mature faith does what it’s supposed to do – bear fruit.
The second parable answers the unasked question “What can one person’s faith do?” Faith starts small, yet it continues to grow through God’s power working through His Word. It grows to be much greater than we could ever comprehend or imagine. One person’s faith can do much more that we ever think possible!
Who is this Jesus? He is the one who knows the inmost workings of faith. He knows how it is established, how it grows, and how it does greater things that we can ever imagine. He is, after all, the object of our faith!
