I know.  It’s only one verse.  How much can be said about this one verse?  A lot!  First of all, that one verse is full of a lot of good information.  It’s kind of an introduction to the rest of the book.  It tells the reader what the book is about, and kind of invites the reader to come to those conclusions as they read.  This book is the gospel (literally Good News) of Jesus (His name, meaning The Lord Saves) Christ (His title, meaning “The Anointed One”) who is the very Son of God!  As we read this Gospel of Mark together, we will be exploring the proof given that this is who Mark says He is!

Mark, the writer of this gospel (under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit), is also known as John Mark.  He was known in the early church, even went on the first mission trip with the Apostle Paul, although he did not complete the journey.  Tradition has that Mark was connected to Peter as well, possibly a relative.

I hope you enjoy our journey through Mark, as together we discover this gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God!
