After Paul’s section of thanksgiving to God for the people of Thessalonica, he continues by reminding them of his relationship with them, pointing out how he came to them for one purpose, to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with them.  He reminded them of how he He spoke to them as a father encourages and corrects his children, so that they might grow to maturity in the LORD.

Paul, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit of course, is setting the ground work to remind the church in Thessalonica why they should pay any attention to the rest of this letter.  Paul reminds them that the Word they received from him  was not Paul’s word, but God’s!  And the same in true of the letter Paul wrote to them.

Sometimes we tend to forget that important fact as well.  All the Bible is God’s true, inspired, un-erring Word that He has revealed to us to encourage, correct, and strengthen our faith in Jesus Christ.
