In yesterday’s reading, David asked if he could build a house for God, and God said He would build David a house! Not one made of wood, but a dynasty where David’s descendent would sit on the throne forever. In this passage, we see David’s response – a humble prayer of thanksgiving.
David realized God’s awesome power, and his own inability when compared to that of God. God’s making and fulfilling this promise to David is a huge thing to David, but a small thing for God. And that’s what makes it amazing – that the God who made this universe was willing to look down upon one person, David, and give to him this promise.
It’s that same care that God has for us; He is willing to love us, forgive us, and continually care for us, even though we are imperfect, insignificant parts of His creation. God still treats us as if we were His only one. Our God is amazing!
