Even in death, Saul was grasping for honor, yet did something that brought even more dishonor upon himself. The very thing he was trying to avoid by taking his own life, happened anyway. The Philistines chopped off his head and hung his body on a wall as a warning to the people of Israel. Honor was only given to him as a response of a few of the valiant men, taking down the body and disposing of it properly.
There is no honor in suicide; it’s simply trying to take the matters into our own hands when we are least prepared to make such an important decision and saying you know better than God. Even in the midst of difficult situations, God continues to guide and care for us. May God continue to grant us His strength, even in the most difficult of times.
