This had to have been one of the most difficult times of David’s life. On the run as a criminal, sought by a king he did nothing but help in many different ways. He rescues a city from the Philistines, and they thank him by being willing to turn him over to the king (remember yesterday’s reading). He escapes to another area, but the people there report him to Saul, who chase him down and almost capture him.
Yet through all of this he did one key thing. He stayed in contact with his God. He checked with the LORD before he made any decision, knowing that it was the LORD who would in the end grant victory and deliverance.
May we once again learn from David, remembering to pray to God when faced with a difficult situation, and trusting in the answer He gives to us, especially during those difficult times!
