Christ plus anything else does NOT equally Christianity. When we try to add any additional requirement to our faith, it is no longer about what Jesus did for us on the cross, but what we do. That is what Paul has been confronting this whole letter. We can boast in only one thing – the cross of Jesus. For it is by that cross we have been forgiven and changed. Nothing else matters. Jesus Christ and His work for us on the cross is the key focus of our faith!
This letter closes like it opens, with very little focus on formality, no thanksgiving and no greetings. Just a simple Christ focused blessing. Once again reminding the people of Galatia, and also reminding us, of the central focus of our faith, our Lord Jesus Christ!
