A couple of things from today’s reading: First, a continuation of Paul’s advice to the Galatians as to how they should live as followers of Christ. Not that living in that way makes them Christians, Jesus did that through His death on the cross. Even though we are lead by the Holy Spirit, we also have that ‘sinful flesh’ (see yesterday’s notes) trying to pull us away from the truth. We need the daily reminder of how God desires us to live. We find that in His Word.
Second, we are called to do good to everyone - fellow believers as well as those who don’t believe. This summer that call to service has really struck me. We are called to serve others, inside and outside the church walls. I know how I’m serving inside, but what about outside the church? The servant event to Idaho with the youth in June solidified my desire to serve.
Yet before we can serve in His name, we need to be in His Word. The desire to serve is from the Spirit, as we see God’s will in His Word. May God continue to lead us to His will and show us His desires for us to serve.
