Paul continues his personal testimony as to God’s work in his life, and the disciples’ acceptance of him.  Notice that from the very beginning of Christianity there were some who were trying to make it all about rules and regulations, and not about Christ.  They wanted to make sure the people did certain things certain ways, and if they didn’t they didn’t think they should be considered Christians.

Paul was facing legalism as we will find out in later readings.  Legalism is making Christianity a bunch of rules that people must keep in order to really be a follower of Jesus.  The problem with legalism is that it adds something to the Gospel.  No longer is it about faith in Jesus our Savior, but about faith plus obedience.  And soon the faith is left out and it becomes simply about obeying rules.  Don’t fall in the legalism trap.  Live in your freedom given to you by Christ!
