In this section Paul explains where he received the Gospel that he proclaims. It is not the means that God normally uses. Paul received the Gospel through a direct revelation of Jesus Christ. If anyone were to say that they didn’t learn about Jesus from the Bible or from someone else, I’d consider him suspect. I’d check that gospel to see if it agrees with God’s Word (most of the times it does not).
Paul, a former enemy of the church, wasn’t quick to proclaim what was shown to him about Jesus Christ. In time he checked with the disciples in Jerusalem to see if the gospel he was given was the true gospel and it was. God called one of his enemies, revealed Jesus to him, and used him to share that message to people who had never heard of Jesus.
God has shown that same grace to us, by calling us to be His even though we didn’t deserve it, revealing Jesus to us through His Word, and using us to show His love to others. May verse 24 be true of each of us!
