My apologies for not having a devotion last Thursday or Friday.   My sister-in-law, Lisa Hudson, passed away last Monday night, and we are gone to a funeral that last part of the week.  Thank you for your prayers, and please keep them coming.  Instead of catching up with our readings, I will simply push the devotions back two days.

Notice the ‘day of the Lord’ language – the wonders in the heavens, blood and fire and smoke, sun to darkness, etc.  Yet this day is a good day, the day of Pentecost when God’s Spirit was poured out on the people and all that people will need to do is be saved, no circumcision, no sacrifices, no ritual, only faith.

The day of the Lord in the prophets is not just a day of judgment it’s also a day of grace.  While for the Israelites the day of Pentecost may have seemed like a bad day (people leaving their religion for Christianity), it was truly a day of Grace and forgiveness.  Think of it this way… judgment day will not be a horrible day for those who believe in Jesus, it will be a day of grace and celebration!
