Jesus’ teaching on the end times continues. This time He uses a Kingdom of Heaven parable to help describe what it will be like. Ten are ready at the beginning of the night, but when the bridegroom arrives, only five are still waiting. The others try to be ready, but are not, and are not included into the marriage feast.
This passage speaks against the “once saved, always saved” doctrine. If the bride groom came earlier, all would have been ready, but later they were not prepared. The same is true of our faith. Some will fall away from the faith they once had because they were not prepared for the wait. How do we prepare? What’s our oil? God’s Word! God promises to keep us in the faith by the power of the Holy Spirit working through the Word of God, whether it’s during worship, group Bible study, and/or individual study.
Be prepared for when Christ comes. Remained strong in your faith through His Strong Word!
