Once again the Pharisees are trying to trap Jesus in His words, yet once again they are not able to find error with His response. Yet Jesus’ response sometimes causes some uneasiness to us. Actually the topic of divorce causes this uneasiness. We all know someone who’s been divorced. We know the situations behind those divorces, the pain, the hurt, and the anger. How could something like divorce be wrong?
Because, simply put, divorce is the result of sin in marriage. Remember that marriage was instituted BEFORE sin entered into the world. Marriage is a good thing, part of God’s perfect creation. Yet when sin came into the world, it also entered into marriages. We shouldn’t be surprised; the evil one wants to destroy all parts of God’s perfection.
For those divorced already, remember God’s grace and forgiveness for you. He knows the difficulty and the pain and the hurt and the guilt you went through, and may still be experiencing. Trust in Him. If you are still struggling, consider Divorce Care here at Peace. It is an amazing program.
