What’s the difference between the wise man who built his house on the rock, and the foolish man who built his house on the sand? Both HEARD the Words of Jesus, but the wise man DOES what they say, he obeys. The foolish man simply hears, but doesn’t do. God has given us His Word not just for us to read and hear and talk about, but as a guide for us Christians to live our lives. Hearing the words are important, but putting them in action is even more important. If we don’t do what He says, do we really trust in Him? Or do we trust in ourselves more?
The difference is evident when those storms of life hit. All too often we see people suddenly start worshiping and reading the Bible when difficulties come their way. But when the trial ends, so does their connection with God. While it’s good that they are relying on God in their times of trial, the time to prepare for the storm is during the good times of life, when you LISTEN and DO God’s Word during the good times, you will be much more prepared for the storms that will come.
