First of all, I must apologize for not sending this out yesterday.  After the busy weekend of worship and a quick trip to family in South Dakota, the thoughts weren’t forming together last night.  Hopefully this morning will be better.

I mentioned earlier in my post that most of the readers of Matthew’s Gospel would have been ethnically Jews, and that many think that Matthew’s gospel was written to the Jews.  Yet the first people who acknowledge the Christ in Matthew’s gospel are GENTILES – non-Jews both ethnically and spiritually.  A commentary that I am reading says that these magi are not to be thought of as kings or wisemen, but as astrologers and magicians (practitioners of dark magic).  The readers would think that these magi are among the least likely people to bow down to the true Son of God.

Who is someone you know that you would NEVER expect to experience the Son of God?  This is the One who makes all things new and through whom all things are possible!  Bring this person before God in prayer, asking that He would bring them to Himself.
