Passage.

Today we’re starting looking at prophecies fulfilled by Christ’s birth. The best place to start is with the Immanuel prophecy. Remember that the prophet Isaiah is addressing an issue of his time as he is giving the prophecy that applies to the Christ child. The king of Judah and Jerusalem was placed in a difficult situation. The kings of Samaria and Aram were trying to force King Ahaz to join in their coalition against the world power of that time, Assyria. Isaiah is telling the king. Don’t do it! Because within 20 years, both Samaria and Aram will be destroyed. But don’t worry! You have something they don’t. You have Immanuel on your side. Don’t worry. Don’t join with them. Trust in God, the true God who is with us. How much more true is that for us today?
