Originally I had the Bible readings for this week focus on the readings for this coming week. But after the Bible study on Gideon on Sunday, I felt that there was so much more we could discuss, so I’m changing the focus to continue reading on Gideon.
Monday’s reading: Judges 6:36-40 (also read the rest of Judges 6 if your weren’t in Bible study on Sunday).
What do you do when you are not sure of what direction you should take? Often people will fall on one of two extremes. First, they struggle with such great indecision that they become paralyzed and they do nothing. On the other hand are the people who decide too quickly and plow forward whether it’s a good decision or not. We might think of Gideon as being one who is indecisive. Not only does he ask God for a sign, but he asks for a second! Yet Gideon was not indecisive. When faced with a difficult dilemma, he simply sought God’s will in a deliberate manner. How deliberate are you at seeking God’s will? How can you become more deliberate?
God’s blessings on this Monday as you consider these questions.
