Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, and His mercy endures forever.
Psalm 107:1
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As Thanksgiving approaches, we give thanks to our God for many gifts He gives to us in this life, but most of all we give thanks to Him for His great mercy shown to us through His Son, Jesus Christ. I thank God daily for the wonderful opportunity to be your pastor, and for the many things He is doing through this congregation.
I am using this newsletter to give an update on a few of the things that are going on here at Peace. The first is the work being done to bring video technology into worship here at Peace. In September we held three listening sessions to update the members on what the plans are, to gather input, and to answer any questions or listen to any comments or concerns that people might have concerning the use of video technology in worship. We were very thankful for the input given in those meetings, and as a result, we changed our plans for the project. The plan now is for us to go with two screens, one on each of the brick walls adjacent to the altar area, and two projectors, which will be located on the back beam on each side. We will also have a monitor in the choir loft and a monitor or screen above the cry room. We will convert part of the current cry room into a worship technology room which will hold the sound and the video equipment. We are in the process of getting estimates lined up that will be presented to the Boards of Elders, Trustees, and Church Council in November, and hopefully, to the congregation in January. If you have any questions or concerns, PLEASE let me know, so I can do my best to try to provide an answer.
Another item that has come up recently is a request from the Nebraska District President, Rev. Russ Sommerfeld, for me to help 1C as their vacancy pastor. The Board of Elders has approved a working agreement with 1C to make this happen. Jerry Steger is continuing to provide the teaching and leadership at 1C. I will be assisting Jerry as his supervisor, and assisting with the Lord’s Supper at 1C once a month. These additional responsibilities should not take away from my work here at Peace, as it should only take an hour or two each week. 1C is currently moving forward in calling a pastor. If you have any suggestions for a pastor, I’m sure Jerry would be interested in that name. Please keep Jerry and 1C in your prayers during this important time in the life of this new congregation.
While I’m talking about prayer, I ask that you also continue to keep this congregation in your prayers. Pray that God would continue to guide us and show us the direction that we, as a congregation, should take. Pray for wisdom for your leaders and your pastors. Pray that God might continue to use the people of Peace to positively impact this community by sharing His love through their words and actions.
Pastor Klatt and I also want your input. Please let us know where you think God is leading this congregation. Tell us your ideas on how we can better reach our community or grow the faith of our members. Maybe God has given you an idea that will become a key part of our future.
May God continue to guide us by His grace and peace.
